TCU Sponsors a Robe Bestowal Ceremony for Students of the Department of Communication Studies Who are Ready for Their Internship

Forty-one graduating seniors of the Department of Communication Studies were ready for their internships, which started on February 20. On February 17, Masters from the Jing-Si Abode, TCU faculty, members from the Tzu Chi Humanities Mission, Tzu-Cheng Yi-Te Association dads and moms, and students’ parents took part in this event, which was held at the Jing-Si Abode. The students sang a song using sign language to express the gratitude to their teachers for teaching them more than three years, and expressed their wishes to learn from workplaces to make their dreams come true.

慈濟大學傳播學系四年級41位學生即將於20日開始到電台，傳播公司等單位實習13周以上，2月17日包括精舍師父、慈濟大學、慈濟人文志業師長們、慈誠懿德會和學生家長參加在慈濟靜思精舍舉辦的授袍典禮。實習生以手語歌｢路要自己走｣表達出對師長的感恩和對自己的期許，感恩師長們三年多的教導，但最終還是要自己面對實習職場，實踐屬於自己的夢想。

During the 2016 USA presidential election, most of the media predicted that Hillary Clinton would win the election. Unexpectedly, Donald Trump won, and Internet media were the key to his victory. Technology has made considerable advances, yet the mission for media professionals remains the same. The CEO of Tzu Chi’s Humanities Mission, Tuan-Cheng Wang reminded students to spread messages of beauty and virtue and do good deeds for society.

2016年美國總統選舉，川普對希拉蕊，當時主流媒體主要預測都是希拉蕊贏，評論有利希拉蕊陣營，最後結果卻由川普當選，讓大家不得不重視網路媒體的力量。拿著手機一路直播，不需要靠傳播團隊，你就可以擁有一個屬於自己的節目，新媒體的興起帶給傳統媒體和傳播人很大的挑戰。雖然傳播環境劇烈改變，但傳播人的使命是不變的。慈濟人文志業中心執行長王端正勉勵同學們，不管到哪裡，在哪種媒體工作，都要保持著傳遞美善的風格，做有利社會的事。

Students raised their right hands and vowed to report news truthfully and righteously. They would intern at 25 workplaces including Public Television, Da Ai TV, Hualien Radio, and Consumers’ Foundation. TCU President Wang told students to “care less about what you have, compare less to others, have a regular life, be mindful, be open, and learn humbly.” In addition, he hoped the students would excel in their workplaces.

舉起右手，宣誓要成為報真導正的傳播人，實習生分別將到包括公共電視、大愛台、洄瀾電台、消基會等25個傳播單位實習。王本榮校長也送給學生幾句話：｢不要計較，不要比較，不要貪圖睡覺，不要大呼小叫，不要關在地窖，但是一定要謙恭受教。｣同學如果能夠謹記在心，一定可以成為一個優秀的職人。

Hsin-An Pan said that his college period is similar to tea processing. As a freshman, he was green and energetic like a tea leaf just picked from a tree; during his sophomore year, he faced hardships, like a leaf going through the drying process; during his junior year, he was busy doing graduation projects and schoolwork, like tea leaves being rubbed together; during his senior year, much like tea processing that is almost completed, he presented his graduation projects and got ready for his internship. In his junior year, he had formed a company with his classmates and received various off campus projects, yet he still felt nervous about his upcoming internship, since he didn’t know what he would be assigned or whether he would be able to reach the goal. He chose the most sizable public relations company hoping to learn how to plan corporate public contributions.

潘信安同學分享四年傳播生涯就像製茶的過程，大一時大家就剛摘下來的一心二葉，有著青嫩的熱情，大二經過專業的曝曬，也許過程辛苦卻是必經過程，大三是在畢業製作和課業中繁忙，就像是茶葉揉捻一團，大四則是發酵等待收穫的時機，端出了畢業製作和實習，讓外界品嘗成果。潘信安大三就與同學成立了公司接案，雖然已經有與外面公司的合作經驗，但面對實習還是很緊張，潘信安表示不知道對方會給自己什麼樣的工作，能不能達成目標等等，而他選擇了國內最大的公關公司，希望自己能夠學習如何規劃企業公益。

Pin-Yu Fei was to work for Da Ai Radio. She had spent two years at Da Ai TV learning animation, and thus her graduation project was a highly regarded audio book. She was grateful to members of Da Ai TV for teaching her so much, and she knew very well what she wanted, after going through different types of work. While working for Da Ai Radio, she wished to learn how to express herself using her voice, and keep going forward.

費品玗同學即將到慈濟大愛廣播電台實習，她曾經到大愛台動畫組學習兩年，也因為這兩年的動畫經驗，讓她在畢業製作完成繪本有聲書，廣受好評。費同學感恩大愛台前輩的指導，因為提早接觸傳播工作，更清楚自己的興趣，因此費品玗決定到廣播電台實習，學習聲音的表情和表達，追逐自己的夢想

Master Der-Mai presented a robe to each student, and encouraged them to do their best in the workplace. The Department Chairperson, Professor Chen, wished students would complete their internships smoothly, and infuse humanities and professionalism into their work. The best scenario was that students could be employed as regular staff right after completing their internships.

41位同學一一由精舍德勱師父親自授予實習袍，實習讓同學在畢業前走進職場，無縫接軌，傳播系系主任陳定邦祝福同學們，實習順利外，也用誠正信實的人文素養和專業能力獲得主管的認同，甚至可以在13周的實習結束後直接到實習單位任職，畢業就能就業。

The ceremony was planned and carried out wholly by students. The smoothness and high quality content reflected their capabilities. Students’ parents were touched to see evidences of their children’s growth.

授袍典禮由同學親自設計，流暢的節奏和高品質的節目內容，展現出同學的籌辦活動能力，參加典禮的家長們看到孩子的成長，都很感動。
