TCU Sponsors a Student Organization Expo

On September 10, 43 student clubs and 15 student associations took part in the Student Organization Expo at the Main Campus Sports Center, and freshmen attending the Expo felt TCU’s vitality. A total of 211 attended, including Dean of Student Affairs Kun-Jui Hsieh, staffs of the Office of Academic Affairs, officers and leaders of student organizations, all of whom vigorously invited freshmen to join in student organizations.

慈濟大學9月10日，全校43個學生社團齊聚大喜館，以具有社團特色之活動表演及攤位擺設，讓105學年度之新生感受慈濟大學的校園活力氛圍。包括學務長謝坤叡、學務處各單位師長、學生會會長、學生會幹部及全校學生社團負責人共計211人，以活潑熱情的活動吸引新生們加入各社團。

Dean Hsieh said that TCU is a small university, yet we have 58 student organizations spanning the areas of career/pre-professional, music/dance/creative arts, fraternities/sororities, self-governance, athletic/recreational, and community service, and each club has its unique features. Freshmen were welcome to found their own clubs to look for others who have similar interests or to gain needed skills and knowledge in the workplace, yet not taught in the classroom.

慈濟大學謝坤叡學務長致詞，慈濟大學的學生人數雖然不多，但是社團也有58個 (含系學會)，從學藝性、音樂性、聯誼性、自治性、體育性、服務性六種社團，每個社團都有屬於自己的特色活動，無論105學年度的新生們，想找尋志同道合的朋友或是想培養系所專業知識以外的就業軟實力，參加社團絕對是豐富大學生活的不二選擇。

The leader of each student organization accepted a letter of congratulations from Dean Hsieh, followed by an oath-taking ceremony which was begun this year. TCU Student Association president You-Qun Zhen led leaders of student organizations to take the oath, which they said loudly, and conveyed to the freshmen why they are devoted to their organizations.

與往年社團博覽會不同的是，今年課器組結合學生會，並邀請全校學生社團一同舉辦「學生社團負責人宣誓典禮」，除了在全體新生面前接受學務長頒發的就任證書，而後也在學生會陳侑群會長的帶領下，全體學生社團負責人大聲唸頌就職誓詞，將自己投入社團的初發心，毫無保留的傳達給全體新生感受。

“I promise to serve unselfishly, uphold positive attitude and carry out my responsibility to my organization. While serving others, I may encounter difficulties, yet I will never give up. I will never ignore other’s wellbeing for my personal interest. I swear to do my best to build an environment which treasures students’ happiness and campus vitality.” Yong-Jin Xie, president of the Basketball Club, said that he felt touched while taking his oath. He perceived campus vitality is mainly built by students, and thus he wished to sponsor a series of contests and activities for the freshmen.

「我，願以無私奉獻的精神、積極正向的態度，忠實執行自身職務，投入社團服務工作。在服務過程中，絕不遇到困難就退縮放棄，不為自身利益而忽略他人權益。為『建立一個重視學生權益及校園活力的環境』而全力以赴。」身為籃球社社長謝永晉表示，宣讀誓詞時，內心有股莫名的激動，校園的活力本來就是要靠學生本身來創造，也希望這一學期社團所精心策劃的競賽與社團活動，讓所有慈大學生一同展現自我，追求更活潑的校園氛圍。

The Music Club presented a song filled with drum beats and zealous lyrics, which was followed by performances of the Sign Language Club, Multinational Dance Club, TCU Student Association, TCU Choir, Street Dance Club, Love Fellowship, Magic Club, Guitar Club, Chinese Kung-Fu Club, etc.

緊接著的社團表演是由熱音社帶來以撼動人心的鼓聲及熱情激昂的歌聲，瞬間炒熱了全場的氣氛。而後「手語社」、「異國舞蹈社」、「學生會」、「合唱團」、「街舞社」、「觸愛團契」、「魔術社」、「吉他社」「國術社」等接續演出，展現出同學的多才多藝。

While performances were underway, various clubs were busying inviting freshmen to join them. To attract freshmen, members of the Tzu Chi Collegiate Association put on their special and colorful outfits, as did the Softball Club, Basketball Club, and several other clubs. Many freshmen signed up and were ready to explore their college life more fully.

除了台上的社團表演外，底下的社團攤位也卯足全力的在向新生介紹自己的社團特色。看著慈青社的大頭娃娃，與穿著全套比賽服的壘球社、籃球社，以及各性質社團色彩繽紛的社服，穿梭在新生間，期待新血加入社團，也有很多新生早就相中目標，在攤位前留下資料，為自己的大學生活增添不一樣的人生經歷。

Chih-Chieh Hsu, chief of Extracurricular Activities Section, encouraged students to develop their potential to the fullest. If one has a dream, many skills are needed to reach it, and a student organization is the best place to acquire planning, management and communication skills, and it is also good for exploring things first-hand. Hsu anticipated students would do it, and take one step at a time to fulfill their dreams. Recently, our Altruism Club was ranked by the Ministry of Education as a Class A club, and Kuroshio Choir was presented an outstanding group award at a nationwide music competition.

課器組組長徐志杰也勉勵大家，在社團裡，該炫自己的時候，千萬不要手軟，社團可以學會企劃，經營管理和人際溝通，只要您對自己還有夢想，社團永遠會是一個自我實踐的好地方，期待每位同學踏出自我實踐的第一步，讓大學的生涯能「有夢最美，築夢踏實」。而慈大社團表現優秀，其中105年度人醫社獲教育部全國社團評鑑甲等，黑潮合唱團獲全國音樂比賽-大專團體組優等。
