2017 Culture extravaganza to promote TCU’s internationalization


To promote internationalization, the English – taught course “Introduction of Taiwan” of General Education Center holds an international extravaganza at Tai-Chang Elementary School. The instructor of the course is Dr. Cheng – Hsiung Lu who is always willing to present Taiwan cultures and international understanding via cross – cultural curriculum in his class. Furthermore, the teaching results are transformed into presentable cross – cultural event held at the elementary school to display showcase of diverse cultures for schoolchildren, Taiwanese and international students.

As the number of the international students grows at TCU, abundant foreign students attend this course to learn Taiwan cultures. Therefore, Dr. Lu leads them of 4 nationalities such as Indonesia, Malaysia and South Africa to perform an international exposition which includes Taichi, drumming, Chinese/Indonesian song, Hawaii Hula dancing, Mazurka dancing, stories of the national flags, etc.

As the picture shows, the international culture performance is held at Tai-Chang Elementary School and draws the curiosity and interest for the young schoolchildren and their counterpart university students. From such cross-cultural interactions, the participating students have achieved a memorable note in their university studying experiences.
